Philosophy: "What's different about my work is that I don't try to "fix" people. In fact, I come from the premise that what we are is perfect, whole and infinite and that our trouble and subsequent suffering is born out of our decisions to accept a view of ourselves that is small, limited, powerless incomplete and flawed. I believe that all suffering and all addictions arise from the beliefs that drive us to see ourselves as less than what we are. If, instead of trying to change ourselves and improve ourselves we can create the possibility of awakening to our true nature and the rest will take care of itself. As we get in touch with the reality of our magnificence, everything that we are not, falls away, and our lives are transformed. Instead of merely changing your behavior, you can transform your awareness and take back the power to create your life from the thoughts and behaviors that now own you. And then, you are truly free." Raven Dana Q: When I am under lots of deadlines at work, I get anxious and have a hard time sleeping. What can I do? Marlene M. - Utah A: Here are some options: 1. Try 15 minutes of meditation before bed to calm your mind. 2. Use essential oil of lavender in bath water or massaged into temples. 3. Purchase a tape or CD that helps the mind relax and produce the frequencies that will help you sleep. Look in the relaxation or new age section 4. Get coaching to help you communicate more effectively at work and to see what stress reducing steps you can take during the day. 5. Get coaching to quit your job and find another that is more fulfilling. Q: When I get upset, my asthma acts up, even though I'm in a great climate. Can it be stress related? Tom H. - Arizona A: Yes Tom, stress chemistry constricts airways, makes breathing shallow, increases heart rate and constricts blood flow. Often, learning the relaxation response technique, and reducing stress helps prevent asthma. Also, regular massage has been known to reduce asthma symptoms. as well as eliminating dairy products and wheat from the diet. You may observe whether or not you eat more junk food when you're stressed. That's also a possible cause.
